Our Wedding Vows
It has come to our attention that many guests at the wedding had trouble hearing our wedding vows. Lack of a public address system and Scott's soft voice were not a great combination. Even owls have trouble hearing him. We apologize for any difficulty you might have experienced, and have reprinted our vows below:
He Said . . .
My Dearest Violet:
I once thought that the day we met was the greatest of my life, because it has led me to a path of untold happiness and joy. But now I realize that today is the best day of my life. It is the day that we begin our lives together as one, and I want to savor every single minute.
Today, your wonderful family will become my wonderful family. And my wonderful family will become your wonderful family. And our grafted family will be a mega-wonderful family. Basically, it will be a fiefdom of wonderfulness. And Ollie will reign as king!
And on this day . . . I vow to always be there, next to you, holding your hand, during the good times and the bad. Your strength will become my strength, and together we will face any challenge with character and conviction. Just knowing that we will be side-by-side fills me with peace and the feeling that nothing is impossible.
I vow, no matter how tired I might be, to never let us go to bed angry. I vow to keep the pasta flowing and the breakfast sandwiches warm.
I promise to arrive upon decisions mutually, and yet always keep our towels separate. I vow to keep water off the sink ledge, and sort recyclables accordingly.
I vow to always have the time to sing off-key Karoake in the car with you, and keep the witty bon mots coming. I vow to keep the LOLcats to a minimum.
I vow to never stop appreciating the millions of things that make you so special—your kindness, your consideration, your inner and outer beauty—all of the many reasons everyone loves you. I vow to help foster these traits in our children.
I vow to always apply kisses liberally when needed, like I did by the lake in Naboo
Most of all, I promise to never lose sight, not even for a moment, that you are the greatest person I have ever known. And you have chosen to spend your life with me.

I love you more and more every day. Today, I am giving you this ring as a promise to always love and respect and cherish you. I will always be there for you—to stand proudly with you through all the happy times and to support and comfort you through any challenge.
I’ll watch football with you every week and hope the New York Jets make it to the Super Bowl, and I’ll even cheer for the Minnesota Twins in the World Series . . . if they ever get past the Yankees.
